BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — A federal grand jury has indicted a New York doctor on charges he illegally dispensed prescription pain medication. U.S. Attorney William Hochul in Buffalo says Wednesday that 73-year-old Pravin Mehta (PRAH-vin MAY-tuh) prescribed fentanyl, hydrocodone and other drugs to patients at his Niagara Falls office without proper medical exams.
He’s accused of authorizing dangerous painkillers to patients without a proper medical exam. He’s accused of signing blank prescription forms and directing his office staff to fill in information about the drug and dosage.
Pravin V. Mehta, 73,who closed his Niagara Falls medical office in January, indicted by a federal grand jury.
