Family Says Son Died Getting High on Fentanyl Patch

Campbell County, VA - The Beals family says their 21-year-old son and brother Casey Beals died from a disturbing and dangerous way to get high. The Beals say Casey misused a prescription drug patch. The Fentanyl patch is a narcotic pain medicine.




Arthritis and Cholesterol Drugs Well Tolerated in Prostate Cancer Treatment

Research from The Cancer Institute of New Jersey on the FDA-approved drugs Celebrex(r) and Lipitor(r) — used respectively for arthritis pain and lowering cholesterol — shows that these drugs are well tolerated in the treatment of recurrent prostate cancer. Preliminary results from an ongoing Phase II clinical trial will be presented this week during the 2012 Genitourinary Cancers Symposium.

Drug treatment facility for women to open in March

Expectant mothers in southern West Virginia with substance abuse problems will soon have a new resource. The brand new Turning Pointe facility in Beckley is slated to open in March, providing residential treatment and support services for pregnant and postpartum women struggling with addictions.
